helvetica - a documentary by gary hustwit
    helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography,graphic design and global visual culture. it looks at the proliferationof one typeface (which celebrated its 50th birthday in 2007) as part ofa larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. the film isan exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type thatinhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers abouttheir work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behindtheir use of type.
     helvetica encompasses the worlds of design,advertising, psychology, and communication, and invites us to take asecond look at the thousands of words we see every day. the film wasshot in high-definition on location in the united states, england, thenetherlands, germany, switzerland, france and belgium.
    helvetica is the first documentary film directed by gary hustwit, whoused to produce films, ran a book publishing house and founded theindie DVD label Plexifilm.
     the screening will be followed by a talk with experts of korean typography.
